New York. In the book, the data is used to illustrate the effect
of the choice of bin widths and bin origin in a histogram.
The data provided on this web page merges the data from the book with two other sources, in order to extend the time series which covers the years 1910 to 2018.
The data set has 109 rows and 2 columns:
Multivariate Density Estimation: Theory, Practice, and Visualizationby David W. Scott — Table B.9 lists values for 1910 to 1972. This is a strict superset of the first source.
