Annual Snowfall in Buffalo, NY

One of the data sets considered in the book Multivariate Density Estimation: Theory, Practice, and Visualization by David W. Scott lists the annual amount of snowfall in Buffalo, New York. In the book, the data is used to illustrate the effect of the choice of bin widths and bin origin in a histogram.

The data provided on this web page merges the data from the book with two other sources, in order to extend the time series which covers the years 1910 to 2018.

Description

The data set has 109 rows and 2 columns:

year
The year which started during the corresponding winter. For example, the value 1910 indicates the period from July 1909 to June 1910.
snowfall
The amount of snowfall during the winter, in inches.
